  • The Chris Nifong Project

The Chris Nifong Project is a five-piece group playing original jazz-fusion compositions by its leader, Chris Nifong, along with other selectively curated jazz, rock, pop and blues tunes. Based in Massachusetts, The Project started out as a family band made up of all Berklee educated musicians and has evolved into a group of players both from Berklee and the community. Driven by a reverence for virtuoso technique and a love of melody, the repertoire is creative, accessible, layered and energizing. Chris often uses personal experiences like a trip to Cadillac Mountain in Maine, or a Vermont summer day as an inspiration for his writing. Just as often, the music comes from his deep listening to his heroes – Mike Stern, Allan Holdsworth, John Scofield, Bill Frisell, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin and many others. The band delivers great music, burning solos and a ton of energy in live performances, and is equally capable when playing quieter, more acoustically oriented events.

Starting at a very young age, Chris has been fascinated with all aspects of music. He began playing guitar at 13, attended the five-week sessions at Berklee College of Music beginning when he was 14, and graduated from Berklee with a Bachelor’s degree in Performance (Guitar). He went on to get his Master of Music Education (Autism Concentration) degree from Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music. He teaches music at The Tremont School in Concord, Massachusetts, as well as in the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education program. He teaches private lessons at three different studios, including his own in Holden, Massachusetts called Mystic Farm Studios. Chris also taught at Plugged In Band Program in Needham for ten years, working with both ensembles and private students. As a multi-instrumentalist, Chris was selected to play pedal steel in the “Larry Klein Meets Berklee” concert, alongside Madeleine Peyroux and Luciana Sousa at the Berklee Performance Center. An experienced performer and composer, Chris has played in many local bands and has been leading The Chris Nifong Project for several years, primarily featuring his own compositions. His love of melody, texture, and complexity make his evocative music immediately compelling and groove-laced.

LOVEXRAGE is a reimaginative movement that allows us to step into our full power and authenticity as black people. LOVEXRAGE is a vessel for love and liberation, as well as a beacon for hope & community. This movement represents how love and rage exist in a paradox that is intertwined in its complexities as one must carry rage for the systems in place which threaten the existence of that which they love. One cannot truly love without rage, and one cannot truly rage without love. Through love and rage, we can show up as our true selves, free from any internal or external prison. By creating a safe space for our community to show up as their most authentic selves, we take back autonomy and create our reality, on our terms.

  • Friendship Strategy

Born from a college friendship that would prove more enduring than any of them imagined, Friendship Strategy came together years after three friends first crossed paths in the mid-2000s. What began as a simple connection between roommates and classmates in 2005 and 2006 eventually blossomed into something much more significant when they discovered their shared passion for the alternative rock and punk sounds that defined their youth.

The band's name reflects both their collaborative approach to music and the deep friendship that serves as their foundation. As a three-piece cover band, Friendship Strategy draws from the rich catalog of alt-rock and punk's most influential acts, spanning the grunge-soaked '90s through the pop-punk explosion of the early 2000s.

The trio's chemistry is evident in their tight performances and the genuine enthusiasm they bring to every show, whether they're tackling brooding alternative anthems or high-energy punk classics. Their setlists serve as a nostalgic journey through the genre's defining moments, from iconic '90s hits to early 2000s favorites.

Years after their college days, these three friends reconnected over their mutual love of music and found that their friendship translated perfectly to the stage. The band serves as both a celebration of the music they love and a testament to enduring friendship. For Friendship Strategy, it's about honoring the soundtrack to a generation while sharing that passion with audiences who lived through alternative rock's golden era.
